Pinnacles Desert in Australia

The moon-like Pinnacles are one of Western Australia’s most unique and memorable natural landscapes you may experience. Thousands of tall limestone spires, formed over millions of years, rise menacingly against the yellow desert sands of Nambung National Park, near the coastal town of Cervantes.

Less than three hours from Perth along the Indian Ocean Drive, you can move yourself to another world by travelling to the Pinnacles via a scenic road or walking trail. Or leave the driving to someone else and take a bus or four-wheel drive Pinnacles tour from Perth or Cervantes.

Stand on a viewing platform and reflect on the natural forces of water and wind that have shaped the Pinnacles from shells over millions of years.

Better yet, visit the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre and learn about the history of the Pinnacles through interpretive panels and information about the plants and animals that have found a home here.

Tourists should check road and park warnings and closures before travelling at www.emergency.wa.gov.au and https://alerts.dbca.wa.gov.au.
